Je crie ton nom is a film by Oscar Rosetti. The main character, Nicolas, lives in a retirement home and he’s desperately trying not to be bored. While all the other residents seem to be sitting around and waiting to die, Nicolas has an urge to be alive. Even though he’s in a wheelchair. He calls sexual services at night and tries to make a move on his therapist by day. From one of the telephone conversations, we hear that Nicolas is a regular customer, but also that it’s not sexual pleasure he’s after. The operator knows everything about Nicolas because he longs for a friend, someone to listen to him and see beyond his age. Sure, the therapist is cute, but he treats him like a baby. One day, the retirement home gets a new resident - Daniel. Nicolas is in love. They spend a lot of time together. Daniel gives Nicolas strength to get out of his wheelchair. They share a beautiful moment together and Nicolas tries to kiss Daniel. Daniel pushes Nicolas on the floor and storms out. In the last scene, Nicolas steals Daniel’s car and drives off, free at last. He wants to be alive and no one can take that away from him.

The film Stammering love by Jan Czarlewski  starts out like a sample of the main character’s love life and ends like a beginning of a love story. Tim stammers a lot and has a problem with approaching girls. Which is unfortunate because he’s a very nice and funny guy. Girls he approaches turn him down because they don’t have the patience and because for them it’s really uncomfortable to wait five minutes before Tim gets to the punchline of a simple joke. To make things worse, Tim’s best friend is a real charmer. He never comes back from a party „empty-handed“. He really cares for Tim and keeps encouraging him to attend parties. He believes that Tim just needs more practice, so he pushes him to approach Victoria, a cite girl from their gym. Although Victoria is nice and patient and seems to really like Tim, his stammering doesn’t get better. And that’s one of the best things about this film. This is not the feel-good love story of a boy with a problem who meets an understanding girl and then her love heals him. Like I mentioned, this is just the beginning of their love and that’s what makes this film so touching and convincing.

The film Yuri Lennon’s Landing on Alpha 46 by Anthony Vouardoux could be interpreted as a fifteen-minute story about the end of the world as we know it. Or maybe not. The feeling you get after watching it resembles the one after reading a zen story – it just makes your mind silent for a while. The story itself is really simple: Yuri Lennon lands on Jupiter’s moon Alpha 46 and starts exploring. He finds a flower and in it – a pearl. When he holds it up it’s the same size as the Earth as he sees it. And then the weirdest thing happens: the Earth becomes the pearl. Or the pearl becomes the Moon... Either way, a man, Yuri, is holding the whole world between his fingertips.  Throughout his journey he’s in constant dialogue with the control room on the Earth Now they’re screaming and panicking, and begging him to „bring them back.“  Yuri tells them: „How can I bring you back to yourself?“ He drops the Earth and that seems to be the end. He walks away, singing what appears to be an appropriate theme song for this film: „I’m a poor lonesome cowboy, far away from home“.
